Whats in A Case Part 8 through 10

I have officially finished opening all of the boxes. It was obviously a good case even with what you saw so far. I am pretty happy with it all. Two years in a row I am quite pleased. I wonder how many more words I can think of for Happy. We shall see!

Onto the next box show off (elated!)

Two base autos of LJ Hoes (great name) and Jake Odorizzi. The Dom Brown is a blue refractor. Always nice to hit a Phillies card that I am going to keep!

Onto the next box 9 (joyful)

The Nick Maronde is a nice refractor version! The Parker is a sweet gold ref! Another Blue, Mr Hosmer, the blue on blue looks nice.

Onto Box 10! (jubilant!)

The Yelich is a blue refractor which was really nice to see this late in the game. Got another 1972 insert of Puig. The Stanton is a blue which is cool too. The Cingrani is a double of a base auto which kinda sucks, wish I would just get another guy or a colored one.

No Biggie though

Thanks for following along, one more boxes post and then the summary! (and then we can trade if you guys want)

Whats in a Case Part 6 and 7

Thanks to everyone for the nice comments on the Puig hit. I will tell everyone that I have already moved it (I traded it for a card I've been wanting for a while) I sent the card off to be slabbed. The grade on it doesn't matter so much to me as the protection the slab will provide. Once the card is back (should be 20 business days) I will post it for everyone to see! Very excited!

Onto the fun!

Box 6:

I was happy to see the first Gold of the break, Mr David Freese. Solid color refractor. Got another blue of a Blue Jay fittingly.

The autos were both base. Jedd Gyorko and Jake Odorizzi. I have a Gyorko from Bowman so if anyone is interested in either of them. The Jake is nice though, kind of a funky signature.

Box 7!

The Harper and Miggy XFractors are pretty cool. Look another Gyorko blue! Sepias are always nice to see!
The Rondon is the refractor version! He throws really hard. What's a case without a Jeurys Familia auto! No case at all!

Thanks for reading! It's been really fun so far!

Whats in a Case Part 5 (Massive Hit Alert!)

This is easily the best box. Even if the other boxes have good stuff in it, it will be extremely difficult to top this one! Always a good feeling to get a massive case hit!

I like the word massive apparently.

Anyways onto it!

The Justin Wilson is a pink refractor numbered out of FIVE! It's no guarantee getting one in a case seeing as they fall one every 1,010 packs! I was happy to see the Ryan Howard Xfractor since I collect his cards.

The run of the mill base auto not sure what I'm doing with this one yet.

.
.
.
.
My Biggest Hit Ever!

PUIGGGGGG! RED refractor Auto numbered out of 25! This is my 3rd case of Chrome (opened one in 2011 and 2012) and it's the first Red auto Ive hit on anyone! The odds were one in 1,210 packs! So in one box the odds were absolutely destroyed! I haven't decided if I'm selling/trading redeeming. I may have to guage what it can fetch (it may pay for the whole case). Or if I redeem it and then encase it for protection and sell next year. I don't know but either way I'm happy!

It will be hard to top this one for my pull of the year!

What's in a Case Part 3 and 4!

I have decided to combine the openings of box 3 and box 4. (Did I mention I love cracking cases). It literally takes all my will power to stop and scan. Thankfully, my lovely girlfriend enjoys sorting and she is doing all the base cards.

This morning we will also be on our way to the Philly Show to see what other things we can find. It will be fun as always. Even if I can't afford some of the stuff its pretty cool to see in person.

Anyways, onto Box 3!

Got a decent black refractor in Lance Lynn. He's been pretty good the past couple years. As you can see up top it was nice to hit another Puig insert. Glad to knock that one off the list through packs. Look a Profar! Got the blue and now a die cut!

Another nice auto! Nick Franklin blue (If its not traded I will redeem it) and the best name in the set LJ Hoes! Love me some on card autos!

Box 4!:

The Josh Johnson is a red refractor (kinda an odd shade of red this year) numbered out of 25! The black refractors look good and I do like the light blue this year.

I was happy to see a Jose Fernandez refractor auto come out. He has filthy stuff (probably rookie of the year!) I'll probably be keeping that one! I don't know much about Allen Webster but he's a Red Sox so that can't be too bad.

Four Boxes down, 8 to go!

Stay Tuned for probably the best hit I've ever pulled in Box 5! (ohhh a teaser!)

What's in a Case Part 2!

Let's continue the fun!

Just so everyone knows I will have a recap post at the end with all the color and notables and then we can discuss trades.

It seems like every box you get at least 2 color refractors and the chance for more!

Onto Box number 2!

The first Puig base card! I know for sure I am keeping one for my own set. But beyond that I haven't decided if I'll trade these to the Dodger friends out there or just sell them in a lot for like 20 bucks. I traded the A&G one away (don't regret it one bit it was a good trade). I like the Jon Jay picture very actiony (wow poor adjective). It's nice to hit the future 2 time MVP Dynamic diecut. The Feliz is the first Sepia! Love Sepia refractors (have all 220 cards from last year!)

When the case is done I will put the puzzle pieces together and take a picture.. Might look cool.

We continue with a color auto numbered out of 100! The first black auto of the break Alfredo Marte. Also, the first redemption card, Tony Cingrani. I thought the redemptions would bother me but they don't. I'm still waiting on a Jim Palmer Five Star auto and a Bryce Harper Black Topps Chrome auto from last year, but I am patient they will come.

2013 Topps Chrome is here! What's in a Case Part 1 of (11 or 12 or something)

I have received my case from UPS! I locked in early on the price and looking at box breaks it seems like there is some cool stuff out there. I am excited to get started and share with everyone. Welcome back to my series of posts called "What's in a Case!". We will share this journey together and hopefully pull a million great things!

This year, I have a scanner! I will scan the inserts and some interesting things and the autos!

Check out Box 1:

In this year's Chrome there is a couple more inserts then last year. The 1972 reprints are full size and fall 2 per box. They are nice nothing too special about them though. The Dynamic Diecuts fall 1 per box, they aren't nearly as diecutty as last year but I won't lie I was happy to see Puig in the first box. The Connections diecuts fall 2 per box. They connect so you can make some sort of baseball never ending puzzle. I like how the team colors are on the border, really makes them pop.

In this box I hit one blue (light blue this year)  numbered out of 199, black numbered out of 100 and red numbered out of 25. Nice to hit such a low numbered refractor in the first pack. I'm sure some Dodger fan out there wants it. The Trout is pretty sweet as all you fans out there know, he's pretty good.

The autos started out with a bang! The Profar was the first auto of the box! He is the future in Texas and could be quite a good player. Wil Myers was called up this year by Tampa and had a good season too. The autograph checklist this year is pretty strong so lets hope to get some of the good ones.

There's no denying it, I love the Chrome release (it got me back into collecting in 2011). I am super excited to bust the rest of this and hope everyone enjoys seeing What's in a Case?!

Trade with Red Sox Fan in Nebraska!

I recently completed a quick and easy trade with Red Sox Fan in NE! He responded to my sepia refractor post (still plenty available!) and we quickly worked out a trade.

Check it out!

Pretty happy to add this Jesse Biddle. I hope he's in the rotation next year for the Phils. He's been pretty solid in the minors and hopefully projects to be a middle of the order guy for years to come. Put him with Hamels and Lee and Gonzalez and lets go make the playoffs! The Konerko is a nice looking relic. My other team is the White Sox mainly cause I'm a big Frank Thomas fan and I lived in Chicago for 2 years and cheered for them. I like the frames on these ones as well.

I honestly traded for the blue waves cause I didn't have any. They are pretty thick cards and nice looking in person. I have no idea who these guys are (and I didn't look them up) but they are shiny!

Thanks for the trade!

A Few New Howards!

I have received TWO trade packages this weekend! Woohoo! I will be posting on them once I get the cards scanned hopefully this week. In the meantime I will show off some of the new Ryan Howard's I recently acquired.

I participated in the Golden Giveaway last year and successfully hit zero cards on the website. I managed to get this Howard for about 4 bucks so I'm pretty happy about it.

I like the look of these diecuts. I am a fan. I still need the 2011 Howard from the online giveaway. I'm sure I will like that card too.

This is another cool card. I've yet to buy a box of tribute simply because I can pick up the singles I want for less then 10 bucks. Sure it would be cool to hit something big but its just not worth the risk. I actually like the encasing, it's much better then getting a damaged card.

The case of Topps Chrome has been paid for, I hope it ships this week Wednesday or Thursday, but I will probably have to pick it up Saturday Morning or if I'm lucky Friday afternoon. Either way I'm excited! 288 Packs!

A trade! With 14K Phillies!

I recently completed a quick and easy trade with 14,000 Phillies! I am way behind him on collecting Phillies. I have organized my want lists up to 1985 though! Only 28 more years to organize.. haha. He responded to my Ryan Howard Supercollection post and offered up a Howard ginter relic. I am a big fan of the frames on these cards so they always have a place in my collection.

I really like the picture on the Howard relic too. He looks like he's admiring a home run or staring off into the sunset. Either way it looks nice. The other card is a Topps Attack shiny card. I think it was some sort of promo and it's still in the original wrapping!

Thanks for the trade!

An Autographed 1964 Topps Card!

I received this card in a Group Break from my brother's blog Dan's Other World. I don't have many 1964 Topps cards so it's pretty cool to have an autographed one.

The card itself has a couple bends on the corners but overall not terrible. He looks genuinely happy to be posing for the shot in front of the batting practice cage. His career lasted 12 years. That's pretty good for any major leaguer.

Also received this card in the same group break:

It's cool to have a nice Bill Buckner auto. He's famous for that play that everyone talks about. The ball through the legs you know it. The ball sold for over 400 K! Crazy! I wonder if the person who bought it routinely throws it through people's legs. All kidding aside the signature is nice and I like the old Cubs Uni's.

These 2 cards were nice but they don't come close to the prize of that group break in my opinion (there were actually quite a few nice cards) just talking about the prize I was lucky enough to get. I will keep you all in suspense and show that at a later date (aka I haven't scanned it yet but I will!)

Oooo Old Cards

Thanks to everyone who responded to my trade post! I have already completed a couple deals and there's a few more in the works! I would say that is a rousing success! I like exclamation points! Anyways, happy to trade with the blogging world, that was a large reason why I decided to start the blog.

One thing is for sure, I need more Dodgers trade bait.

Check out these old cards!

These are a couple Philly team sets that have been completed. I need to get 8 pocket pages to properly store them all together and make them viewable. I am a recent convert to vintage. I didn't understand it when I was younger (newer was obviously better), but now I love the history and the pictures and all that. My Phillies vintage collection is getting good. I am particularly proud of completing the 1952 Team set. The high numbers were tough to find at not crazy prices and in a condition I was comfortable with.

Anyways just wanted to show off some vintagey guys. I like the look of these cards and maybe one day I will tackle the whole set and not just the team sets (already have the Mickey Mantle!)

Quick Blog Update! Wanna trade?

I was not lazy today! I updated my Want List! It is accurate! I added Team Sets of the Phillies from 1961 to 1979. I need quite a bit so no trade is too big or too small! I also added the 2013 Bowman Silver Ice set. I've yet to come across someone else collecting these so if you have any laying around please take a look!

I recently (well today actually) completed a trade involving one of my Sepia refractors from last year's chrome. I had scanned these about a month ago thinking I could get some trades going with them since they are nice cards.

So if anyone has any interest, I have want lists and I want Phillies/Ryan Howard/ Frank Thomas. I've gotten a lot of interest (by a lot I mean 3 people) in the Strasburg sepia. If you do want that one I would ask for a strong offer.

One Day I was Bored...

And I went on ebay.. check out what I found..

What can I say? I'm a sucker for a serial number. And I like the color black and blue (cause I'm so tough). I know these card's aren't worth a ton but one day I plan on having every moment and milestone of Mr. Howard's career! He's done a lot of stuff in a short amount of time.

Two more weeks til Topps Chrome.. can't wait til my case comes. It's been over a year since I was able to tear through 12 boxes!

Thanks for the kind words on my previous Howard post and Thanks for reading!

My PC Player Ryan Howard "Super Collection"

You could say that I have been a Phillies fan since birth. Growing up in the 1990s we had the Sunday package to Veteran's Stadium and went to many games every year. I'll always remember my sister bringing coloring books cause she was bored and my brother making sure not to miss any play so he could keep proper scoring. I was always on the lookout for a foul ball (even if we were in the 700 level who knows it could've happened!) I got one ball when I was nine years old during batting practice, it rolled to me. I was able to get it signed by the immortal Toby Borland. Still have the ball in my card room.

Back to what I was talking about. I really like Ryan Howard. In my opinion he's the reason the Phillies sustained such excellence. Ever since his Achilles injury the entire team hasn't been the same. Keep in mind they won the world series before Halladay and Lee came on board. He was the rock that was good for a home run every 12 at bats and always drove a ton of runs in. Sure he struck out now and then but when he was locked in, forget about it, bye bye ball.

I wanted to show off my relics autos and my pretty cards. I went on a bit of a buying binge in the last year and a half but unfortunately had to slow down considerably in the last few months. I am getting more selective on what I'll purchase, but I will always be willing to trade for new Howard cards!

I wasn't able to scan any base cards.. because honestly I am disorganized and I am counting on my girlfriend to get annoyed enough and magically sort all of my team sets in one night (I have about 2-4K worth of Phillies cards sitting on a desk right now).

On with the show!

I loved 2012 Triple Threads patches. These low numbered cards are super colorful and display really well. I am still on the hunt for the 3rd one of the 198 Homers in 4 Yrs card. It would be cool to have a entire print run (even if its only 3 cards). The Ryan Howard Bowan's Best rookie auto was a chase card. I may consider upgrading to a better condition one at a later date but for now it's quite nice. The Gypsy Queen is a nice looking patch out of 10, the frames really make these cards pop.

The only non hit I've posted is the Superfractor of the rainbow I was able to complete last year. Such a nice card. I can't wait to go for the rainbow this year (really hope the super surfaces so I can get it!). The Triple auto is Mike Schmidt, Ryan Howard and Bobby Abreu. I like that it's all Phillies, made it a easy PC pickup. My current favorite Howard is the Bat nameplate. I paid a pretty penny for it but I figured it might be my only chance to snag one of them. The seller was great and got me the card in 2 days so no complaints there. The Triple Threads 146 RBI is a one of one as well, not nearly as colorful as 2012. The Howard Bowman's Best I was able to pick up at the last Philly show for a decent price (believe I paid 90 for that and 2 Steve Carlton autos).

The Howard in the top left is signed on card. Which is rare to find in Howard's cards. The one in the middle is the only Sterling card I have, and I like the look of it.

If you couldn't tell Triple Threads are great!

Here's the first book card I scanned. The only downside to this card is A-Rod is in the middle so I can't cut him out without ruining the card.

I really like the way book cards display (although I need about 6 more magnetic cases).

The ones in the cases are the current ones on display. The Schmidt/Howard is pretty sweet and the patch card I was able to pick up for less then 20 dollars when NT came out (which was a steal!)

I have a decent collection of Frank Thomas (although not nearly as many high end cards). But my main guy at this time is Ryan Howard. I hope he comes back strong next year and leads the Phillies back to the playoffs. Then the haters can eat their words.

That's my super collection, hope you guys and gals enjoyed!

If you have any Howards let me know!
