Trade with Sandlot Cards!

I recently completed my 2nd trade with The Sandlot! He is a Mets collector and has a nice Piazza collection. I sent him a bunch of chrome Mets from the case and he was able to help me out with some needs and include some cool stuff!

These are Dog Cigarette cards from the 1930s! Pretty awesome! These are the oldest cards currently in my collection. I don't personally own a dog but I like animals as much as the next person!

Nothing like an extremely well loved Jim Bunning! Saw him in person on Saturday! The 1971 Topps Phillies team set card is much appreciated and in quite nice condition.

Here's a few of the freebie's that were thrown in. I like Pat the Bat, maybe when I no longer get Ryan Howard cards I'll go after rare Pat Burrell's. Who knows!?

Thanks for the trade and thanks for reading!

A Sweet 2014 Topps Chrome Ryan Howard!

This is one of the nicer cards I have received this year. I am still actively chasing the 2014 Topps Chrome Ryan Howard Rainbow. As far as I know the superfractor has not surfaced (nor last year's for that matter). None of the printing plates either (although I consider that a bonus to the card rainbow). I am in need of the gold and red though if anyone has one!

I wasn't fully expecting to pick up this card when the first few that hit ebay were way more then I was willing to pay. I got lucky on a auction that ended at a weird time and was able to snag this card at a good price.

Awesome patch along with the auto! The card displays real nice and happy to add it to the ever growing Ryan Howard PC!

Topps got this card right!

Also, went to the Philly show today, had a blast. Picked up some cool things I hope to show this coming week. (mostly vintage!)

Trade with Old Foul Cardboard!

I recently completed my 2nd trade with Old Foul Cardboard! I sent him a few cards he wanted and I got back some nice Phillies in return! Even with baseball season coming to end (no playoffs for the Phillies this year) I can still enjoy the joys of cardboard! Also, an aside we had a Chips and Dip contest at work today, that was delicious. Anyways back to baseball cards!

The Darin Ruf auto was the card I specifically traded for. It was very nice to get the surprise Bobby Abreu relic! I really like the A&G autos. They look sharp most years. The Abreu is from 2004 Topps Cracker Jack, wish it came with a decoder ring!

Anytime I get to knock cards off my Phillies want list, that's a good card package! 6 needs from 1974 are now gone! Six less cards for me to chase from the 70s! The Pat the Bat is a rookie card, he was quite good in college at University of Miami. Batted over .400! The Dominic Brown is the diecut mini from this year I believe. I didn't really bust more then a blaster of Topps base this year. Spent more time focusing on player collections!

2 more months til I get married woo!

Trade with Arpsmith!

I recently completed a quick and easy trade with Arpsmith's Sportscard Obsession! He is a big Giants fan and likes to complete various sets. Thankfully, I had an extra set of Topps Chrome that I had not planned on keeping to trade to him. I sent the set along with another card that fit into his collection and he sent me some cash and a few Phillies cards!

All Hits!

Seven new hits for my Phillies collection! The Polanco, despite being on sticker is a really cool design. I like frames and the mini picture just works. It's a nice variety of players as well. I'll take Jim Thome any day of the week!

Thanks for the quick and easy deal!

A Cool Package from TJ!

I received a package a week or two ago (who knows it all blends together at this point) from The Junior Junkie! He has one of the more impressive player collections I've ever seen. His Junior collection dwarfs my Ryan Howard and Frank Thomas collections. He decided to help me out a little bit with that!

Check it out!

A 9 pack of current Hall of Famer Frank Thomas! I really like the Future is Now insert from Upper Deck! Those are sharp looking cards from the 90s.

Without fail he added some more cards of my favorite team, the Phillies! The Cole Hamels is from Topps Chipz, which I believe is discontinued for next year. Always nice to get a Topps Finest card as well, I don't think I've opened a pack of that brand since about 1996.

Thanks for the package (I think I need your address for a return one) I'll be on the lookout for some cool Griffey stuff to send back!

Silky Smooth!

Guess what? I got another Ryan Howard card (I'm sure no one guessed that) I like these silk cards from Topps. They are rare-ish and aren't expensive-ish for the most part. I'm sure some players sell for more then I'd be willing to pay.

Topps Silk!

All day long I can touch it through the window if I so choose. It's like a real life please touch museum (or I guess a real please touch museum would be a real life please touch museum) anyway I digress, the card is cool and I'm sure Howard hit a home run in the picture.

A little behind on scanning.. Topps Finest Gold!

I've received one trade and some other cards in the last week. Been busy so I haven't scanned anything but hope to do it sometime today! In the meantime I will show some other stuff that has been burning a hole in my scan folder!

This sweet Frank Thomas!

This is from 1996 Topps Finest. Back in the day these packs were way out of my price range. I would enjoy busting a box in the future though, always seemed like a good idea. Seems like they are under 30 dollars a box so yea it's definitely a possibility in the future! The golds are shiny and this one is still in the original protective foiling.. which I guess is cool either way to be honest.

Let's wrap this post up with one other neat card!

This is a nice Ryan Howard parallel from Upper Deck Spectrum numbered out of 99. I don't see these come up very often but they aren't expensive! All the better!

May everyone's Fantasy team win this week and have a great day!

Another new Howard auto!

I've had a solid Howard auto week. This one I've only ever seen on ebay once and was lucky enough to grab it at a reasonable price.

It's from that wonderful set Moments and Milestones. There might be a million numbered Howard's in that set (no exaggeration). I have 40 or 50 of the ones numbered out of 25. Always looking for more of those! Despite the sticker, I still like the design of this card. It pops out with the black border and the red helmet.

Looking forward to hopefully completing some trades in the coming week. Also, have the Steelers at +2.5. Hope that was a good bet! (Editor's Note: Not a good bet!)

A new Howard Auto!

At least it's new to me! Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend watching their favorite team or cheering on their fantasy teams. I personally have 5 fantasy teams. One league I've been in for 12 years (same guys cept one team). Another since 2005, and the oldest one I've been involved with in some capacity since I was 9. I've only had my own team in that one for a few years now since a slot opened up and they offered it to me. (They've been doing it for 35 years now!). Good times, if anyone wants to talk football I'm always interested!

Back to baseball!

Howard's been hitting decent in September. He's nearing 100 RBI's and 25 Home Runs. We'll see what happens this off season but personally(word of the day) I hope he sticks around in a Phillies uniform!

Check out this sweet card!

A nice auto relic from Topps Sterling! I like this set and whenever I can I'm happy to snag a few singles from it!

I'm collecting the Chrome Rainbow. If you happen to have the Red, Gold or Black refractor please let me know! I will trade and/or buy from you!

Trade with Democratic Roadkill!

First off, thanks to everyone that followed along and commented on my case break! It was a ton of fun and I'm already looking forward to next year's! Already have one trade completed and another trade in the works. If you're interested shoot me an email, happy to work something out! brauer144 at gmail dot com

I recently (within the last 2 weeks) completed a trade with Democratic Roadkill! He is the mini king! He goes after the master sets and has a ton of them. I was able to send him all of my minis from my Ginter box and he responded with an avalanche of Phillies!

The 'star' mini of this bunch is the Cliff Lee. It is numbered above 350 which means it can only come out of rip cards. There's also a great assortment of A&G backs and black minis and I'm sure this takes care of most of my Phillies mini needs!

These were the extras that Duane was so kind to throw in. Anytime a 1954 Topps card is included as a extra, I'm more then happy.

Thanks for the trade and thanks for reading!

What's In a Case -- Finale -- Summary!

This year was clearly tougher odds. I went back and checked my summary from last year. Non auto refractor color, had 27 last year, this year 17. Everything was down across the board as far as hits go. Need Topps to produce less so my smaller breaks are more colorful. Those Jumbo boxes probably didn't help make the odds better. Not a fan of jumbo personally, I won't be buying any.

Onto the hits!

Blue Refractor (Odds 1 in 40 packs): Michael Cuddyer, Will Middlebrooks, CJ Cron, Kyle Seager, Freddie Freeman, Mike Trout, Erik Johnson, Mike Napoli

Black Refractor (Odds 1 in 80 packs): Ethan Martin (yay PC), Allen Craig, Aroldis Chapman, Jose Altuve

Sepia Refractors (Odds 1 in 105 packs): JJ Hardy, Yangervis Solarte, Ivan Nova

Gold Refractor (Odds 1 in 160 packs): Billy Butler

Red Refractor (Odds 1 in 320 packs): Pedro Alvarez

Chrome all time rookies insert (Odds 1 in 280 packs): Miguel Cabrera

Base Variation (Odds 1 in 1,400): Starlin Castro

The Autos!

Base Autos (Odds 1 in 15): George Springer (redemption), Andrew Heaney, Wilmer Flores, Jose Ramirez, Zach Walters, Gregory Polanco, Abraham Almonte, Josmil Pinto, Yangervis Solarte, Michael Choice, Yordano Ventura, Erik Johnson, JR Murphy, Nick Castellanos, Chris Owings, Dean Anna, Jonathan Schoop

Refractor autos (Odds 1 in 128): Abraham Almonte, Jimmy Nelson, Stefen Romero

Blue Refractor autos (Odds 1 in 306): Wilmer Flores, Tommy Medica

Black Refractor Auto (Odds 1 in 610): Rougned Odor

Red Refractor auto (Odds 1 in 2,450): Stefen Romero

The collation for base cards was good. Completed 2 sets definitely. Might have a 3rd but I'm not checking. Those are the trade pile, so whoever needs base please contact me.

Received exactly 8 base refractors and 4 xfractors per box. Received exactly 24 1989 reprints (all different), 24 Diecuts (all different) and 12 Topps Shelf (also, all different). I can't be upset about not getting dupes in the insert portion.

Beat the odds but if I were to sell the contents of the case I'm sure I'd lose money. Good thing I'm not in this to make money or I'd be in trouble. Here's when the real fun begins.

I know a few of you commented on cards you were interested in or a particular team. I promised some of the Yankees to Lost Collector and a few pirates to Bob walk the plank and I believe some Mets to Home Run Apple (if hes interested?). Sorry if I missed anyone, this coming week is extremely busy for me, so please please email me at brauer144 at gmail dot com and I will get back to you in a day or two to work something out!

I will look at lists or blogs or whatever. I am interested in phillies (shocking I know) Frank Thomas or other trade bait. I've traded quite a few times over the past couple years so many people can vouch for me if necessary. I feel like I am rambling.

Hope everyone enjoyed watching the break on the blog! I posted as I opened so sometimes I struggled with new adjectives (I do not write for a living)

Thanks for reading, looking forward to the trading portion of this endeavor!
