Gint A Cuffs Winner's Box Part 1 (Take a look Cubs fans!)

For those that don't know I won GAC this year! It was my third year participating (part of the reason why I wanted a blog, I knew of the legend of GAC before Brad's Blog came into existence) I was incredibly lucky to hit the Mike Trout wood mini one of one. It's a pretty card, I still own it and haven't decided whether to sell or hold onto it (leaning towards holding onto it to the surprise of no one)

In true Gint A Cuffs fashion I decided to score this box the same way! I have already opened all the packs so I know I didn't get another wood mini one of one but that's ok!

Let's start it off with the box topper

For the purposes of this game my favorite team is the Cubs and Favorite Player is Ryan Howard.

Right off the bat.. here's the boxtopper.

I knew it was a good one when I could see the signature through the package. Apparently these are one every 220 boxes! Pretty rare. A on-card auto numbered 10 out of 15 of Javier Baez!

Point Total: +30 * 1.2 = 36

Solid start!

Running Total: +85.2

One guaranteed hit has been found in the box! Real solid total through these packs. Just to put it in perspective through the boxtopper and first 6 packs of my other box I was at +38. Obviously the big boxtopper hit was a big driver of this strong start.

Thanks for following along!

A Two Year Search -- Rainbow Completed!!!

I hinted at a big card coming in the mail in my last post. It has arrived!

Without much introduction.. *drops the mic and lets the card come on stage*

Superfractor!!!

I now have the Rainbow including Super's from 2012, 2013 and 2014! It popped up on ebay the day before I was set to leave the country for a week on my honeymoon. I was able to e-mail the seller and work out a deal quickly and he was nice enough to delay shipping it until I got back! Win-win!

Here's the rainbow... in order!

I was able to get 2 of the Printing plates but I was not actively searching for them. I wouldn't be opposed to getting the other 2 but it's not an obsessive search (like finding the Super was!)

Here they are all together

I am Back!

I unofficially took a week off from the blog, but don't fret I had a good reason. I was on my honeymoon in Ireland touring around the whole country. Awesome trip and was tons of fun! First time I have been there. Back just in time to catch Game 1 of the World Series. Being a Phillies fan, I cannot in good conscious cheer for the Mets. I'm hoping the Royals win this year since they lost last year and have a pretty good young team. Also, Lorenzo Cain was a beast for my fantasy team this year. That's enough reason for me.

I received the Allen and Ginter winner's box in the mail! I plan on opening it Gint A Cuffs style! I don't think the Mike Trout wood mini one of one can be topped but we shall see! (that is not foreshadowing it's sitting unopened next to me at the moment)

I plan on posting some more stuff this week once they come in. Got one big one that I've been obsessively checking USPS so hopefully it comes tomorrow!

And just so you know I'm back.. here's a new Ryan Howard! Silver parallel rookie card!

I had gotten the base in a group break a while back, but I didn't have this one. Glad to add it to the Ryan Howard PC!

Trade with P Town Tom!

I recently completed a trade from the Cubs centric blog Waiting til Next Year! I'm sure he's out or at home right now watching the Cubs play the Mets. Always super exciting to see your team make a playoff run! The Phillies run was awesome, the Cubs are nice and young hopefully lots of good years ahead of them. Tom emptied out his Phillies trade box for me! There was quite a nice mix of cards.

I tried to take a fun cross section of them. Definitely appreciate the Franco rookies! I know I had none of them before. He's the Phillies hope next year of some power from third base. I like the Smoky Burgess reprint. Sharp looking card (I also have the original)

I was a huge fan of Wes Chamberlain when I was a kid. I liked the way the announcer said his name at the games. I'm basically going to retire since now I have FOUR rookie cards! The donruss Studio shots are pretty amusing so I had to share with everyone.

Here's a Roy Halladay puzzle.. apparently I failed at scanning so his head is kinda detached. Either way, future Hall of Famer Roy Halladay.

Two new relic cards! Always appreciate getting some hits added to the Phillies collection!

Thanks for the trade Tom, I'm definitely cheering for the Cubs to beat the Mets!

A Trade with Jeff!

I not so recently completed a trade with Jeff from Wish they Still Came with Bubblegum! He sent me 2 PWE's and managed to fit in 22 cards or so. Very impressive. I sent him a bunch of stuff (I don't remember!)

Check em out!

One Envelope was all Phillies. Some good ones in there. I really like the 1957 Archives of Ryan Howard and the Darren Daulton Post card is great. He's still a huge fan favorite around Philadelphia. The Hamels Purple parallel is nice too. He's pitching game 5 for the Rangers tomorrow. I don't particularly care for the Rangers but I'm cheering for Hamels to do well.

Some solid Eagles additions here. Thankfully they won this week so the radio isn't all doom and gloom. Sam Bradford needs to keep playing to hopefully get back into playing shape from his injuries and just keep getting better. Nothing wrong with an old school Herschel Walker. Ironically he was one of the main catalysts of the Dallas dynasty in the 90s. He was traded from Dallas to Minnesota.

Dallas Sent Herschel Walker, 3rd Round Pick, 5th Round Pick, 10th Round Pick and next year's 3rd Round Pick

In return they got LB Jesse Solomon, LB David Howard, CB Issiac Holt, RB Darrin Nelson, DE Alex Stewart, in the 1990 Draft, a 1st, 2nd and 6th round pick and in 1991 a 1st, 2 2nds, and a 3rd. Also a first round pick in 1992.

One of these picks ended up being Emmit Smith, another Darren Woodson, Alvin Harper.. some pretty good players.

It rivals the RG3 trade for ridiculousness!

Thanks for the trade and thanks for reading!

Wow Time Flies!

Hey avid readers,

Sorry I did not post in the last 7 days! Life has been busy. I am still behind on scanning but I plan on doing it soon (today if all goes well!) This is just a quick hello. I've watched a few of the postseason games. Pretty entertaining so far. Some of the west coast games end a little late for me since I have to get up in the morning. Also, watched the Mexico vs US game last night. Mexico thoroughly outplayed the US but I really thought they were going to hold onto to a shootout. Crazy good goal by Mexico.

Here is one more addition to my Ryan Howard Chrome rainbow attempt (moving slowly this year)

Green!

This parallel is numbered out of 99! Not a bad looking card.

Thanks for reading, hopefully get more regular posting soon!

A Chrome plate!

I was able to pick up one, one of one recently. Although are they more a one of 4? Either way its the only one of this particular color.

It's the Cyan plate! Only 3 more to go and I can print my own Topps Chrome cards! I'm a bit behind on scanning (literally have a pile on top of my scanner) I have received some cool cards in the mail this past week and will give proper props. Or something like that.

Phillies officially have the number 1 overall pick.. I hope whoever it is, is really good at baseball and can help re build this team. Nola, Crawford, Eichel, Franco and the new guy will be the new nucleus. If they can do what the Cubs are doing now and sustain it. It was really fun baseball to watch when they won all those divisions in a row. The lineup was like Toronto's now, dangerous from top to bottom. Anyone at any time could knock it out of the park and bring the team back. Good times! Just have to get back to that.
