Triple the Booklet Triple the Fun!

This is my second look at National Treasures. I showed off 2 cards that I got not too expensively on the first look. I recently received 3 different Ryan Howard booklets in the mail! I'm a big fan of the booklet cards, I think they display really well.

I received one in a trade with Arno from Im Ballsy! That was the card that started off our great trade!

I purchased the other 2 at not crazy prices! Just the way high end products should be!

Check em out all together! Hopefully Howard hits 3 Home Runs in Atlanta to start the season tomorrow! I would be perfectly happy with that!

The top 2 are the non patch numbered out of 99. (I'm still missing the bat one but the jerseys are nice) The middle one was from the trade! The bottom one is the patch numbered out of 25. They all look quite nice. I need to buy a couple more one touch cases to properly display them! Not a bad problem to have!

Hope everyone had a nice holiday weekend! Mine went very well!

Trade with foulbunt!!

Just want to say I am real happy I started this blog. After some prodding from my brother Dan at The Other World and some support from my girlfriend the blog was born. Not the most creative name in the world but I hope people have enjoyed seeing parts of my collection. I really do enjoy reading other peoples posts and seeing what else is out there! I've only been a part of the community since August but I've completed quite a few large trades and my Phillies and other cards have grown considerably! Some stuff I had no idea it was out there and next thing I know its in my mailbox!

Enough waxing poetic onto the goodies! I completed another awesome trade with William from Foul Bunt. He is a great guy and really easy to trade with! He def went out of his way to make sure I got more then I bargained for.

First he sent me this amazing Virgil Trucks auto. I wish I had the opportunity to meet him. It seems like he was truely one of the good guys.

This card is a keeper and one of the nicer and easier to read autos I own!

I got a nice smorgasboard of inserts above. A little of everything. I literally have a pile of about 2-3 thousand ish Phillies cards I need to sort and catalog. I envy the blogs out there that actually know which cards they are missing from each issue. One day I aspire to that.

Now these last 6 cards.. came 2 days after the initial trade package to my surprise! A welcome surprise of course! The Rollins is numbered the Thomas is a short print. Some vintage and 2 Ryan Howards I did not own!

Thanks for the trade William!

Trade with OldfoulCardboard!

I recently completed a quick and easy trade with Chris and Kyle over at Old Foul Cardboard. They posted a sweet card that I wanted for my PC. I reached out and we quickly agreed to a swap!

The Howard Relic is  a new one to add to the collection! The other 3 cards were all new Phillies that I didnt have before. Especially love the vintage. I don't have my 70s lists up yet but when I do I know thanks to you guys I have a bunch of good ones already!

Hope to trade with you guys again soon!

Also on a semi related note. I picked up a lot from ebay of about 40-50 'hits'. Almost all of them I'm willing to trade (some decent stuff some not so great stuff). I will hopefully have time in the near future to scan them all and have a little trade bait blowout fun! I'm always interested in Phillies Hits so hopefully we can work out some deals!

Trade with Arno!!

I recently completed a decently large trade with Arno from Im Ballsy! He writes an entertaining blog so if you've never seen it before go check it out! He contacted me about a card he thought I would have interest in (editor's note: I did). After a few back and forth we ended up with quite a great trade.

Check out the wares!

These 4 hits are awesome! No other way to describe it. The Hoffman patch is sick and numbered out of 35! The Chapman is a sweet Ginter mini auto thing! The Pete Incaviglia instantly goes into my Phillies PC! The Gary Redus is just a cool card and probably has Wes's name on it if he wants it!

These base cards were cool too. Fleer greats of the game. I didn't have any of them so definitely happy to add them to the collection.

He actually sent me one other big card but I am not going to show it right this moment. It have a different post planned for that one! Thanks for the great first trade Arno!

1952 Phillies Team Set Complete!!!!

I just received back from PSA the last 6 cards of my 1952 Topps Phillies Team set! I completed it a little bit ago but I wanted to scan them all together! This is my oldest completed 'set' of any kind and it looks quite nice together. Check out all 20 cards in order !!

I am making serious progress through the 1950s Phillies team sets! Go Vintage Go! Whats your oldest team set? It took me about a year to track down the high number cards at an affordable price.

Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoyed the older card!

A Future Trade!!

I am short on time tonight so I will keep this semi short. My mailbox has been blowing up(in the good way) the last few days and now I am way behind on scanning and posting all the great stuff! If you sent me something Thank you and I will give you the proper props in due time, promise!

This card has already been spoken for in a trade that the details are still being worked out but I am confident we will come to a mutually agreeable deal. I picked it up specifically to trade it, but I still think its a pretty cool card, who doesn't love a triple auto?

Very nice signatures from 3 recognizable ex Yankees. Piniella, Torre and Virdon hard to find a better Manager trio!

First Look: National Treasures!

I didn't personally buy any boxes (wish I had jumped in when they first came out due to the rising prices but oh well no big deal). One of my main guys Ryan Howard has a few cards in the set so I was able to get a few. I like the look of the cards and I get the chase for the really rare relics and button cards. I have one button card (Bobby Doer auto button card numbered out of 4) from a previous group break and yes its awesome (not for sale or trade).

Check out the first 2 Ryan Howards I have received:

This is his "base" card as it is only numbered out of 99. (I didn't notice the creases until I scanned it, another oh well I'm not re-selling it). I didn't pay much for it but its a solidly design card with an unspectacular patch.

This is his rarer card numbered out of 25. Its 2 colors (cue crowd noise 'Ooooooo') And thankfully not creased. I think it cost me 13 or 14 dollars. Which considering I'd be real happy to pull this as one of my big hits.. and the box is 400 dollars.. well sorry to that person who was trying to flip it for a profit. And hooray for me!

I got some other Howards to show off from this set. Just waiting for one more to arrive cause I think they will look good all together!

Also, if you happen to have any Panini Cooperstown from last year please take a look at my Want List (also have a for trade list for that particular set) I am really close to completing the base set and would love to knock it out!

Thanks for reading and happy trading!

A White Whale added to the Collection!

Ever since I was a little kid and 1993 Finest Refractors came out, I always wanted one. The packs were always way out of my price range (in fact they still are out of my price range). I thought about biting the bullet and spending the money to buy a box and get the guaranteed one refractor per box. After looking at the singles online it only made sense if you hit one of the big stars as far as money goes.

So instead of doing that I decided to chase down a Phillies refractor from that year! 1993 was a great year for the Phils so many fan favorites to go for! I ended up with the Wild Thing!

Shipped in this nice magnetic one touch case. (of course I cropped out the top so you can't tell that)

I think I did well on the price. Cost me 15 dollars delivered. If anyone has a line on the other Phillies 1993 refractors and it won't break the bank, I am interested! (Or if you happen to have one for trade I would definitely make it worth your while).

Whats your child hood "white whale" ? I know this one wasn't crazy expensive or anything but it still took me 20 years to acquire!

Trade with Shoebox Legends!

I recently completed a quick and easy trade with Shoe Box Legends. He writes a cool and entertaining blog so check it out! I sent him some Archives and a few other Red Sox cards and he hooked me up with a card I'd been trying to get for a while.

The card in the middle the Cap Ripken Jr Canvas Relic was the centerpiece of the trade. It's quite a nice card from the Masterpieces set! The Ryan Howard target Red is much appreciated, I did not have that parallel. I will never say no to Phillies vintage! Tim is currently a Phillies broadcaster!

Thanks for reading and thanks for the trade!

Went on a shopping spree.. TRU

I decided on a whim after work today to go to Toys R Us. I've bought a few of the blister packs before and have sold a few of the purple parallels to at least get all my money back. I walk into Toys R Us and expect them to have a couple no big deal.. well they had FIFTY TWO packs.. 20% off so naturally I bought all of them!!!

I got a whole lot of purples (no Jeter or Harper) I am most likely going to sell them in lots on ebay. It seems like thats the best way to go cause there just isn't that many out there. If you really need one let me know and I'd consider trade offers.

It was a whole lotta fun opening all the packs for the 3 cards and then opening all the regular packs afterwards. If you need any base cards.. please let me know I have a TON of doubles triples etc...

Check this ridiculousness out...

Still have 2 more of them that didn't fit in the scan.. Anyone a huge Rafael Soriano fan?  I haven't cataloged all the inserts yet but I might be close to the sets. I have zero interest in completing the mini set so if anyone wants to trade for them please let me know and I'll tell you what I have.

I didn't scan it (too lazy to grab the scanner again already scanned a bunch tonight) but we did hit a Jason Heyward relic, one in 394 packs! Nice hit for retail. Was pretty happy to see that one fall out of the pack!

In conclusion, day not going great? Rip some packs! It's fun! And then let your girlfriend sort all the base cards!

Thanks for reading, and if you want to trade I will respond!

Trade Bait Draft Goods from JayBarkerFan!

At the same time Wes from Jay Barker fan's Junk was sending PWE's he also sent me the goods from his last Trade Bait draft. I was pretty busy during it and he got me exactly what I wanted!

Check out the fun!

This was my first pick. Not because I like Javy Lopez, just really like the Passport design of this card. I think its really creative and fun. And I own a passport, so I'm almost a Major League Baseball player.... makes sense.

Love those Leaf Steel cards (this one I freed from its protective sealant thing after scanning though oops). The Ryan Howard has this cool reverse negative thing going on. The other Larry Walker I didn't have from 1994 Topps Black gold. How many cards are in that set? I think I have 18 different ones now almost exclusively from Trade Bait drafts!

All I have to say is GOOOOOOOLLLLD!!! Love me some 1992 Topps Gold. Always thought they were impossible to get when I was a kid so I was more then happy to grab as many as I possibly could! The only one from 1993 is a pretty good player named Nolan Ryan (recently featured on the blog as well). Future Hall of Famer (he was robbed this year) Craig Biggio chillin' in the middle!

Thanks Wes for hosting a great draft!

And Thanks to all my Readers out there... for reading!

Trade with Nachos Grande and a PWE Bomb!!

The mailbox has been good to me the last week or so! Seems like a new surprise everyday! I recently completed another trade with Chris over at Nachos Grande. He writes an entertaining blog and usually has some good group breaks that I've partaken in! I sent him a whole mess of Reds and he sent me back ..

Some cool stuff!

The Three archives inserts inches me closer to the Archives Master Set. I don't actually have a list together but I know I'm pretty close (should probably make a list). Always appreciate the random Phillies. I am one of the few people on earth that actually like the Red Border of 90 Donruss.. Sweet card of Roger McDowell in Phillies pinstripes.

Wes from Jay Barker Fan's Junk hooked me up with a PWE of some Phillies! I definitely owe you some vintage goodness. I will see what I can dig up!

Thanks Chris and Wes for the trades!

And Thanks for reading!

Trade with Nomo's Sushi Platter!

I recently completed another trade with Spiegel over at Nomo's Sushi Platter. I always enjoy our quick and easy trades he always manages to send something interesting and new! Also, as an aside we went to the same High School just in different years (so he also went to the same high school as my brother at Dan's Other World) Small world!

On to the cards (since thats why you are reading most likely)

Yes that is a mini poster of Curt Schilling with a 1998 Phillies Schedule. Before he was a controversial figure with the Red Sox and Diamondbacks he played on some pretty bad Phillies teams in the 90s. He was a draw to go down to old Veteran's Stadium though. Back in the 90s my family had the Sunday package so we went down to the ballpark quite a bit. Always a lot of fun!

The card on the top left Mickey Morandini's auto got the whole trade started! One of the fan favorites from the 1993 team and its a nice looking auto! The Burrell was a nice surprise and is a nice addition to my Burrell Relic collection. Two more new Frank Thomas's added to the list.. I'm at 368 unique Frank Thomas cards now! I can smell 400!

Thanks for the trade Spiegel and Thanks for reading!

A Double Dose of Frank and Steve!

I recently completed a quick and easy trade with Brian of 30 Year Old Cardboard. I sent him a bunch of Topps Archives inserts and he sent me 2 Big Hurt Relics.

These are both new to my collection and quite nice looking cards. Happy to add them to my Big Hurt PC, that is slowly growing weekly! Thanks to you traders out there of course I seem to always have new ones to add and catalog and thats awesome!

The next 2 cards are also from the card show. I picked them up from the same guy I got the Ryan Howard auto numbered out of 10.. Check them out my first 2 Steve Carlton autos!

I like the stamps on both of the cards. Even though the top one is a White Sox card it is still going into the PC. The stamp is also a sweet play at the plate. It's also real nice that both of his autos are very legible. Always appreciate a nice signature.

I still haven't shown off the vintage portion of the show, but since all of you read my want lists everyday religiously (righttt) you know that I knocked off a whole lot of 50s cards!

Thanks for reading and as always if you want to trade, let me know and I'm sure we can work something out!

Tough as "Nails"

Thanks to my extremely creative blog post title I present to you my first and only certified auto of Lenny Dykstra!

Its a nice auto although the card has some chipping due to the black border. I kinda figure Mr Dykstra won't be doing too much signing seeing as how he is in jail. It's a shame his life has taken a turn for the worse after baseball.

Fun random story, back in the 90s I was a kid. My older brother and I played a whole lot of Mortal Kombat for Sega Genesis. We dreamed up a game that had characters only from the 1993 Phillies team.. we even had the Fatalities all thought out and everything. This still needs to happen! I no longer play much video games these days but I would take time to watch Darren Daulton whack someone with a bat or Dykstra spit tobacco at them.. amazing what us youngsters think of!

New Ryan Howard Autos!!!

Just a quick post, still feeling a bit under the weather slept most of today. Did go to the post office though and mail out some trades and ebay stuff so that was good. I picked up both of these Howard autos at the card show! The first one is a dual auto with Conor Jackson.. got it on the cheap side cause Mr Jackson did not quite pan out as expected. I like the look of these dual autos. I previously traded one away so I'm happy to add this one to the PC.

This Howard is from 2010 Bowman Platinum and is a sweet patch auto numbered out of 10. None of that glue is on the card just on the case. I bargained with the seller and am really happy with the deal I got for this card! I haven't been able to find another Howard with this low print run at all really. Or they want 100s for it and I only paid 30 bucks for this one!

Also,  unrelated note if you are interested in magic the gathering I just posted a bunch of auctions on ebay for some good cards! Ebay link Also if you have any specific cards you want I would sell or trade for baseball (Mostly 4th edition to Urzas Saga, I have very little of new stuff).

Thanks for reading! Stay Tuned tomorrow for other fun cards and musings!

Trade with Angels in Order!

I recently completed a trade with Tom over at Angels in Order. It was a quick and easy swap as it should be! I sent him some stuff he wanted and he sent me a nice smorgasbord of stuff back.

Check out some of them!

The Ryan Howard is a nice one numbered out of 99. One of these days I will catalog my Howard cards. I'm sure it rivals the amount of Frank Thomas's I have at this point. Much appreciated that he included a vintage card from my want list! And I got this package right before the card show so I didn't duplicate it! The Cris Carter oh what could've been.. he was an Eagle and then he had an unbelievable career for the Vikings. In my opinion the best hands in the business.

Look at those Pants!!!!!!! Love the 80s!!! Thanks Jim McMahon!

And Thanks Tom for the trade.

That's all I can muster tonight feeling a bit under the weather.

Until next time, Thanks for reading!

That's Patch-Tastic 2.0 (BEST ONE I OWN!!!!)

Not sure how long I can keep the "Patch-Tastic" theme going. Some of them go for quite a bit more then I'm willing to spend. This is a football patch so its out of my norm, but it was way too cool for me to pass up. The player was a bust but who cares look at this thing!!!

I made it extra large(even though it infringes on the side but I don't care), The Eagle Eye is looking at you!!! But seriously it even says on the back this jersey as worn in May during the Rookie Premiere event. 5/21/2005. I like the specifics of it which is way better then todays verbiage as all you card collectors know. I don't think I've written one grammatically correct sentence, but thats ok! The card is also only numbered out of 10 which you know is kinda rare but look at that patch!!

What's your favorite patch card (link if possible I like to see these things!) This is mine!

I have much more to show off but I'll do it in bits and piece last time I think I overloaded everyone with  5 posts in a row about the same thing. I have a few cool trades I completed and want to give some fellow bloggers some props for hooking me up with great cards!

May everyone have a wonderful day and Thanks for reading!

The Ryan Express... !

I mentioned in my pre show post that I was willing to make one large purchase.. and I did exactly that. I am super excited to get my hands on this card been searching for one that I could grab at a decent price for a while!

Check it out.. the strikeout king, Nolan Ryan!!!

This card is so close to perfect. Just the top left corner is messed up but besides that everything else is clean. It fits right into my Hall of Fame Rookie card semi collection! (I should probably get some sort of list together but that hasn't happened yet)

I have quite a few posts I need to write. Thanks for all the trades everyone, I'm really enjoying sending and getting cards in the mail! Let's keep it rolling.

Stay tuned for the next installment of my card show purchases.. the most ridiculous awesome patch I've ever seen... so I bought it!

Thanks for reading!

Went to the Card Show today.. picked up a "Chipi"

My girlfriend and I took a trip to the Philly show today. We had a great time chatting with people and walking around seeing all the cool stuff the dealers had. It wasn't too crowded since it was Sunday but from what we've heard all the dealers were pretty happy and it was pretty packed on Saturday. I always like to hear positive things about sales, makes me feel good about the hobby in general.

We picked up about 50 cards or so and I will get around to showing all of them, but this has to be first. My girlfriend was looking through some auto/game used box and stumbled upon this auto in all of it's greatness.

I had never heard of Luis Ugueto until that moment. I am now forever a fan. This is easily the best autograph in my collection. (Also numbered out of 50, I didn't notice that when we purchased it) CHipi unfortunately did not have a long career only lasting 2 years in the majors. I want to know more about Chipi! He needs to make a comeback and we could all have signs and it would be Chipi mania all around baseball stadiums! Remember the Rally Monkey.. it could be like that only better!

This needs to happen and the world would be a better place.

Thanks for Reading!

Seems like everyone else posted their's so its my turn..

Another installment of my unofficial series Hall of Famer Rookie Cards, none other then Dave Winfield. I read whatever blogs I can find on most days and I've seen this card at least 3 times. Here's my copy!

No creases some wear on the edges but overall pretty good shape. I snagged it for under 10 bucks so I'm quite happy with the purchase! It looks good next to the Brett, Yount and Ripken.

I am going to the Philly show this weekend. Naturally I will be looking for cards on my Want List but beyond that I'm not sure what to chase. I'm big on Chrome but I maxed out on 2012. I'm not willing to pay 100s of dollars for Oscar Taveras card when he hasn't played a single game yet. I would call myself a semi prospector. I have no problem holding onto a card but I don't want to invest my whole collection on buying, holding and then selling in 5 years.

Went on a bit of a tangent there but the question would be beyond 50s Phillies what else would you go for? I'm not on a unlimited budget but I could afford one BIG card (I classify big as 100+ dollars) and be ok with it.

Thanks for reading!
