PWE From Jeff!

Jeff was kind enough to send me a PWE a couple weeks ago. He runs a blog called Wish they still came with Bubblegum! It's still fun to open packs of 1987 Topps and dare your friends to eat the gum. It may or may not be rock hard at this point though!

He hit a nice cross section of Phillies sports.

The Aaron Nola is a picture of when he was a college pitcher in LSU. He is one of the hopes for the Phillies this year. If he does well along with Franco and JP Crawford and one or two other young guys they could be setup well for the future. At worst the Phillie Phanatic will be on his A game.

The big debate on Philly Sports Talk Radio is whether the Eagles are going to sign Bradford or not. It's a sad state of affairs at the moment for the Eagles. They re-signed Ertz, Celeck and Lane Johnson, all solid guys but with no QB and an average Defense it won't be a pretty season next year.

The Flyers might have the next great D-man in Shane Gotisbehere (SP?) Easier to just call him Ghost. At least something to get excited about!

Thanks for the cards and thanks for reading!

A Quick Relic!

Just saying hi! We survived the snow-apocalypse. We also shoveled 3 times on Saturday and twice on Sunday. My back did not love me afterward. I haven't seen this much snow at the same time since the blizzard of 1996. I was in elementary school at that time and we got the whole week off. Which was great until we had to make up all those days in June when we wanted to be on summer vacation. I unfortunately did not get to any baseball sorting but I sure did watch a bunch of TV and some movies. I successfully slept through Spectre (will have to try that one again).

Here is the relic I completely did not mention in the paragraph above.

I really like the Gypsy Queen frames. If I ever had the funds and drive to put together a relic set I'd strongly consider Gypsy Queen and A&G. First let me complete getting every Ryan Howard ever and then we'll get to that! Easy Peasy!

Thanks for reading, hope everyone is dug out by now!

Some interesting cards!

The first big snow storm should be arriving this weekend. It's calling for 8-12 inches this weekend. Will be fun shoveling the driveway. We don't have sidewalks, so no need to clear something that doesn't exist.

For those that care.. I won the first round of the playoffs!

I decided to take Julian Edelman as my supplemental pick.

This round the matchup is:

My team:

Carson Palmer
Ronnie Hillman
Steven Jackson
Julian Edelman
Michael Floyd
Greg Olsen
Graham Gano
PATS Def (might start Broncos D not sure)

versus

Tom Brady
Jon Stewart
Rob Gronkowski
Scott Chandler
Demarryius Thomas
Brandon McManus
Cardinals D

I have one more player since the Seahawks lost and that team drafted 5 Seahawks last week. Hope to win, would be sweet to make the finals!

As some of you know my wife likes to go to card shows with me when we get the chance. She does a good job finding cool things and helps ground me when it comes to prices. Also, she's supportive when I negotiate for 2 hours for a Michael Jordan rookie (really did happen, awesome card!).

The Spock card was picked up right after Mr Nimoy passed away. He's one of the iconic actors of a generation. The other cards were just cute and/or funny.

Hope all is well in the blogosphere!

Cards from JBF!

Happy Martin Luther King Day weekend! NFL Playoffs are here. I did my fantasy draft on Thursday night for the playoffs.

If anyone cares here's the matchup:

I made a mistake and started Spencer Ware cause I thought he was good to go.

Carson Palmer
Spencer Ware
Ronnie Hillman
Greg Olsen
Michael Floyd
Doug Baldwin
Graham Gano
Broncos Defense

versus

Peyton Manning
David Johnson
Larry Fitzgerald
Danny Amendola
Emmanuel Sanders
Martavis Bryant
Chandler Catanzaro
Seahawks Defense

Hopefully Palmer throws a couple to Floyd tonight! We shall see!

Our friend Wes from Jay Barker Fan's Junk was kind enough to send some cards my way.

Check it out...

I really like 1994 Upper Deck Electric Diamonds. The cards really pop in hand. Also, a whole bunch of Ryan Howard's! That is next on the sorting docket. Organize Ryan Howard collection.. so many Phillies boxes/binders to go through to find them all. The only thing I have pulled is my autos/relics and most of my numbered cards. Have those separate just not cataloged anywhere.

Can't beat a sweet Gary Redus from 1987 Topps. That was always a fun rip with Bonds rookie and Will Clark among others. The Panini Prizm refractors always look good in hand. Despite the no logos, they are still keeper cards (and tend to be cheaper due to lack of logos).

I really really like this card. This insert relic is from 2002 Upper Deck Vintage. I am still attempting to collect the base set. I have opened 2 boxes of it and have yet to hit any relics. They come one every 120 packs so it's a really nice addition to the Phillies Relic collection.

Thanks for the cards and Thanks for reading!

Cards from Jon (A Penny Sleeve for your Thoughts!)

I not so recently received cards from Jon Penny Sleeve for your Thoughts! (Officially added to my blog list, admittedly I am bad about that so if you want to be linked just let me know and I will add you!) His blog name is a whole lot more creative then mine, I have to give him props for that.

I've been watching these football games this weekend. I only care because of fantasy football though. My official playoff draft is Thursday the 14th and I have first pick in every round for finishing with the best record. It's always tough but I hope to go far this year. Who would you pick number 1 overall? (Basically standard scoring, no ppr).

Jon sent me some cool cards...

Three new Frank Thomas cards. Up to 714 unique cards! Mostly low end, but a couple mid-high end sprinkled in there. Don't have the budget to chase all his crazy high end stuff. (That being said if you have the Frank Thomas NNOF I will dip into savings to buy it)

This card is interesting. Scott Rolen when Phillies fans liked him. Before he turned down 140 million and then basically demanded to be traded. He ended up getting 90 million from the Reds I believe. He was one of the best at third base though. A true glovesman. (made that word up)

Thanks for the cards Jon and Thanks for reading!

Happy New Year!

Just a quick hello, I'm behind on all things blogging, but the card room is almost setup and I should get back to regular posting shortly. Also, having some computer issues (charger doesn't seem to want to work) so currently using my Wife's computer. Hope everyone had a nice holiday and enjoys the cold weather!
